Faux Camping

Because of the absolutely perfect weather on Friday we decided (Kris' idea) to take the kids to the park to roast some hot dogs and have s'mores. This park is about two minutes from home and the setting is gorgeous. We set up right on the bank of the river, got our fire started and let the kids run around and play like a bunch of hooligans. They played at the playground, waded in the river, played catch and pretended they were in Rivendell (a fantasyland in the Lord of the Rings). We cooked our hot dogs and then we enjoyed our s'mores. Colby dumped out about 5 cans of rootbeer and 1 bottle of water, and all the kids got filthy dirty. It was wonderful- all the fun of camping without everything that I hate about camping (all the work of getting ready to go and setting up camp, not sleeping in my own bed, and no bathroom). We even came home reeking of campfire smell. It. Was. Awesome.

That sounds like my kind of camping! No tents and lots of S'mores! The kids are just too cute!

That sounds so great! My kids love the park and could stay there all day... and we all love camping! I'm so glad the weather is getting so nice there. Its been great here too. You kids look like they are in heaven with the smores, and of course the baby always has to dump out at least one drink, right?
I echo Aprils question: when r u coming to AZ?? ;)

The weather does look crisp & perfect! What a great idea. Unfortunately for Wes I don't enjoy camping like him either. I think Matthew has changed the mist out of all the kids, KG a close second...then Colby. Glad to see you getting out and having some fun!

Looks like so much fun.

I like your idea of "faux" camping. We might have to do that. I could get behind that. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like so much fun! So where exactly was this? I have never been there. I have been loving the great weather too. Unfortunately I hear that it's not going to be too great later this week. Oh well.

Love it! So much nicer than camping-the work to go and then to come home just isn't worth "actual" camping. I am not sure there is anything that is actually worth going camping (in my case, only for the kids) :) but faux camping is perfect!

I sure don't know how I missed faux camping. Sounds like its right up my alley. Marshmallows and all. Kris had a great idea. Hang on to that one. We know where that place is actually. you'll have to tell Michelle.
