Zoopendous!

On Friday we got to celebrate Kris' b-day by hanging out with his dad and going to the Idaho Falls Zoo. I had never been there, and Kris and his dad, Brent, hadn't been there for ages. I think we were all pleasantly surprised. It was small enough to be able to see everything in about an hour but had enough variety to keep everyone entertained. The kids had tons of fun hanging out with their Grandpa Grover and Kris had a good birthday (I think).

I'll be darned if I can't get the kids to just smile normal all at the same time. So I have this odd assortment of goofy smiles, not looking at the camera, and other silliness. Oh well!

Under the Knife

On Wednesday the 15th Rex went in to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. He suffered from sleep apnea, which caused him to really struggle to breathe while he was sleeping. Because he had them removed for breathing reasons the Dr. wanted him to stay overnight in the hospital to make sure there were no complications. It was an interesting time to say the least but we survived. It's not easy to keep an active little 3 year old content while he's cooped up in a hospital room chained down to an IV stand. Rex was a trooper, though, and the Dr. was impressed with how great he was acting. You really couldn't tell he'd just had surgery. Now, I just hope the high pitched voice and excessive whining are only a side effect from the medication...

Cousin Lovin'

The last several weeks we have had lots of family visiting. It began in the middle of June right after my sister Michelle had her baby. My mom, sister Tara, and her daughter Scarlet came for a few weeks. We had tons of fun just hanging around and visiting. It was so great to get to spend a lot of time with my mom after everything that has happened over the last several months. She is doing great and working so hard to get all better. We had fun at the park and one night we went down to the museum in Idaho Falls to see the Titanic exhibit (it made me want to watch the movie again). The kids loved the huge "iceberg" they had and each saw how long they could leave their hands on it. We also had a baby shower for Michelle and we had a lot of fun with everyone that came.We loved having them here and were so sad to see them go.

I totally stole the first three pictures from Tara's blog, but they were so cute, how could I not?

At the museum

Mom, T and Scarlet left on Friday night and the Bergens' (one of my other sisters' fam) came on Monday night. Their kids match up perfectly with ours, the exception being Matthew, who has no cousins his age. They all had tons of fun playing together the whole week, hopefully everyone got their cousin fill while they were here. We went to the splash park, Keith took the older kids bowling, we traded babysitting so we could each have a date night (this was great and it made me wish we lived closer so we could do it more often!) we went to Yellowstone on Thursday, Grand Teton NP on Friday and the 4th of July parade on Saturday. We were so glad they came to visit and we had tons of fun. Hopefully we will get to do it again sometime!

The babies, only one day apart (I'm kinda sad I didn't get a better picture of them together)
The older bunch

Check out this massive buffalo herd, you probably have to enlarge it to really see just how big
(there must be lots of cousins in here:)

These two crack me up, Audrey is 5 months older than Gracie

All the cousins together (whew, it looks like so many!)

Thanks for coming to visit everyone! We love having visitors (we hope you liked it too!)

4th Fun!

We had a lot of fun on the 4th of July this year. We love our country and we love to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy. We had a great time at the parade with Kris' fam and the Bergens'. Katie Grace and Audrey had the opportunity to ride on the float for their little dance group. They were both so excited to get to do it, afterwards, however, I think KG was just glad it was over. She was so hot and the hay bales they were sitting on were pretty pokey. But I was glad they got to do it together and they had a lot of fun. Then we went to a bbq at Uncle Eric and Aunt Lynne's, we enjoyed the amazing weather and good company while the kids played in the irrigation and swam a bit in Grandma Archibald's pool and took rides in Grandpa Archibald's golf cart. After that we came home for a nap before our little fireworks show and right after that we walked around the corner to the canal where we sat on the bank and had a perfect view of the fireworks from the fairgrounds. All in all an excellent day!

Here's a pic of Little Rex Jackson with Big Rex Jackson

Enjoying our fireworks, the kids love the smoke bombs

Ready for the show

It's still light outside but we didn't even start lighting stuff until about 9:30
